I am done! At approximately 1 AM this morning, I finished rewriting EOL!
Well, sort of. I sent the finished version to a couple people, so I’m hoping at least one of them will have time to read it over the weekend and offer some last-minute feedback. Most likely I’ll have to make a few more changes.
But still, I feel really happy with the end result. It’s amazing what I can accomplish when I don’t cook, clean, or sleep. Just kidding–I did all of those things. Somewhat.
I think the sacrifices were necessary to really get involved in the story. And something incredible happened in the process: I fell in love with the story all over again. I love it more now than I ever have. I found myself grinning and laughing throughout the rewrites. I don’t usually laugh at my own jokes, but at times I just felt really giddy about the story.
Next week I plan to list some stats and discuss the rewriting in more detail. But I still have a lot to do between now and then…
Today and tomorrow: Reread all my query letter information (Writer’s Market, websites, etc) to make sure I’m not forgetting anything. Recheck my agent list to confirm that all information is up-to-date. Take my completed query letter and adapt it for each individual agent. Finish my synopsis and manuscript formatting.
Sunday and Monday: Final revisions based on reader feedback. Check for typos for the millionth time. Polish until it blinds me.
Wednesday: Cook, clean, and sleep. Maybe even do something completely unproductive. Wow, I’m really thinking crazy now.
Thursday: Write emails to all the friends and family I’ve alienated over the past few weeks. Geez, I still owe everyone Halloween pictures, and thank-you cards, and a hundred other things I’ve no doubt forgotten by now.
But now my son is waking up from his nap, so I have to run! Just wanted to update everyone on my progress; I’ll still be scarce for the next week, but maybe after that I’ll be able to catch up on everything else. I am definitely frolicking on this Friday! Anyone else have news to share?? Have a great weekend, everyone!
